    - A model of casting, constructed to use for forming a mould in damp sand, is called as pattern.

    - The first step in casting process is to prepare a good model for casting. This model for casing is called as pattern.

    - Pattern is slightly different from casting in various aspects such as pattern allowances, compensate for shrinkages and facilitate moulding.

    - Wood, metal, plastic etc. such materials are used to make pattern for sand casting.
