In product development, the process of integration deals with the assembling of subsystem components into one complete system.

Among the modular, spiral development & envelope approaches of integration process, modular approach has a provision of adding all components or subsystems in a sequential manner followed by a prescribed set of test. Thus, the prescribed set of test or modules results in integration of all components in a manipulatory way.

Preparation and testing of larger functional system followed by a lower functional system is the major function of spiral development approach.

Expanding envelope approach allows the provision of testing by transforming a critical system into the meaningful system.
