To obtain an AC equivalent circuit of MOSFET, several implementation strategies must be adopted depending upon their consequences on the circuit. These implementation strategies are similar to those of transistor amplifier.

These implementation strategies include the replacement of all capacitors by short circuits and the setting of all DC voltages to zero value.

These configuration variations in the conventional MOSFET circuit yields its A.C. equivalent circuit. As the DC voltages are assigned to be zero, this implies that the DC voltages are blocked and thereby results in the existence of AC voltages.
