Madhya Pradesh formally joined the centre’s UDAY scheme meant for debt ridden power discos
  • Move will save INR 17515 crore during the period of turnaround
  • Puducherry became the first UT to formally join the scheme and signed the MoU under UDAY or Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana
  • With the two states joining the scheme, the number of states and UTs joining UDAY have gone up to 16
  • CPSUs and discom debt will be restructured amounting to INR 2.51 lakh crore
