US President Barack Obama will present the National Medal of Science to Indian American professor at Harvard Medical School and director of the tumour biology lab at Massachusetts General Hospital, Rakesh K. Jain. Prof Jain holds a degree in R. Tech from IIT-K and will receive the medal along with 16 other winners of the national medals for science and technology. The National Medal of Science awarded annually since the late 1950s recognises those who have made outstanding contributions to science and engineering. Prof Jain has received close to 75 awards to date.
