    Given: Diameter of ball B = r2 = 12, diameter of ball A = r1= 8 mm, height of ball A from datum surface = 25 mm, height of ball B from datum surface = 15 mm.

    In this method, one side is vertical to the datum surface and other surface is inclined. Two balls of different diameters are placed in the slot and the height of thee two balls from the datum is measured to determine the the taper angle.

    Radius =r2 = diameter / 2 = 12 / 2 = 6 mm
    Radius =r1 = 8 /2 = 4 mm

    Substituting the given values in the formula, we get

    sin Φ = (r2 – r1) / [ (h2 – h1) – (r2 – r1)]
    sin Φ = (6 – 4) / [(25 – 15) – (6 – 4)]

    sin Φ = 0.25
    Φ = 14.47°

    Therefore, taper angle 2 Φ = 28.95°
