    - Given: length of rod = 3 m, α = 10 x 10-6 /°C & E= 200 x 103 Mpa

    - Formula: Thermal stress (σ) = E α t

    - Solution:

    Thermal stress (σ) = E α t

    = 200 x 103 x 10 x 10-6 x 50

    = 100 Mpa

The value of thermal stress is 100 Mpa.
