    - The power consumption in D.C. Arc welding is more than the power consumption in A.C. arc welding because of the presence of arc blow in D.C. welding

    - Arc blow is the phenomenon of wandering of arc.

    - When current flows through a conductor, a magnetic field is produced around it. Due to this magnetic field, the arc lacks control as though it was being blown to and by the influence of magnetic field. This happens in D.C. Arc welding.

    - But in A.C. arc welding, the effect of magnetic field is nullified due to change in polarity.

    - Therefore, D.C arc welding consumes more power than that of A.C. arc welding.
