    - Configuration management is an important activity which is the success of system development projects.

    - It ensures the traceability of the configuration and produce reports that provide status of the changes to the baseline.

    - It controls the changes to the baselined configuration.

    - It ensures that the current design and build state of the system is known, good and trusted and does not rely on the tacit knowledge of the development team.

    - It gives greater ability and faster problem resolution.

    - It decreases the risk and greater levels of security. It gives better quality of service.
