    - Scatter diagram is a mathematical approach and is used for studying correlation between factors which are related to each other. If a strong relation exists between the variables, then change in driving variable changes quality characteristics.

    - The different types of relations observed are:

    1) Negative relationship: In this relation, driving factor is inversely proportional to performance factor.

    2) Positive relationship: In this relation, driving factor is directly proportional to performance factor.

    3) No relation: Variation in driving factor or performance factors have no effect on each other.
