    - Honing operation is a grinding process with little removal of metal.

    - The surface defects such as slight taper by previous operations can be corrected by honing.

    - Some of the advantages of honing operation are as follows:

    1. Honing operation is more productive than lapping operation.

    2. It has good dimensional accuracy.

    3. Holes of any diameter or length can be honed.

    4. Several holes can be honed simultaneously on multiple spindle machines.

    5. Correction of geometrical accuracy such as out of roundness, taper, axial distortions.
