ICM 7217 A is a four digit LED display which consists of on-board multiplex scan oscillator and Schmitt trigger on count input.

Due to the gradual change in the input, the possibility for the occurrence of multiple triggering increases to greater extent. This kind of multiple triggering affects the functioning level of LED & hence it becomes obligatory to configure the circuit with Schmitt Trigger for the prevention of multiple triggering.

Besides this, the operational function of LED gets affected due to several conditions of ambience. If an ambience is noisy under certain circumstances, the desired level of LED functionality becomes difficult by causing certain variations at the output display.

Hence, Schmitt trigger has the potential to overcome the effects of noisy environment & contribute in increasing the efficiency of an optimum level of output display.
