    - The law of gearing is satisfied by cycloidal and involute profiles. According to the law of gearing, the common normal at the point of contact between two teeth should pass through the pitch point for having correct gearing.

    - Involute tooth profiles achieve smooth motion if the pressure angle remains constant from beginning to the end of teeth engagement.

    - The profile of involute tooth profile has single curvature whereas cycloidal profile has double curvature.
