Machine vision is a non-contact type automated inspection system. Machine viewing system consists of three segments such as

    a) Image acquisition
    b) Image processing and analysis
    c) Interpretation

    Interpretation:

    - Template matching and weighting are the two techniques used for interpretation. This segment recognizes and detects discrepancies in an object.

    - In template matching, every pixel is compared with the template. To identify objects many features are combined into a single measure by allocating weight to every feature in feature weighting.

    Image processing and analysis:

    - In this segment, the image of interest is defined. Thresholding and edge detection are the two techniques used for segmentation.

    Image acquisition:

    - This system uses TV video camera and digitizing system. In this system, grabber converts analog voltage levels of camera into digital words. The data obtained is stored by the frame store.
