Eddy current test is used to determine dimensions of objects, to detect cracks. An eddy current instrument consists of a probe or coil, an electronic unit for generating frequency and a CRT unit for display purpose. In this method, two components of same composition are placed in two coils. CRT is balanced to obtain a certain shape of waveform and one coil is replaced by other component. If unknown sample and previous samples are identical they will have same waveform and if different waveforms are obtained then it shows that the second component is not similar to the standard component.

Ultrasonic test determines flaws in the components and torsion test determines modulus of rigidity and ultimate shear strength of component.
