    - Metrology is defined as the science of measurements. Metrology is divided into three classes i.e. scientific metrology, legal metrology, and technical metrology. Metrology dealing with measurements done to validate theories of nature and to enhance knowledge related to science is called as scientific metrology.

    - The measurements carried out to ensure compliance with laws and regulations is called as legal metrology. These measurements ensure that established standards are used all around so as to maintain uniformity in measurement.

    - Science of measurements include measurements associated with establishment of units, method and accuracy of measurements. Technical metrology deals with measurement related to science of measurement.

    - Metrology is related with reproduction, conservation, establishment and transfer of units of measurements and their standards.
