Creep test is a type of destructive test. It is defined as slow plastic deformation at high temperatures for a longer time under constant stresses. Creep occurs at room temperature and at high temperatures. Creep strength of metals increases with coating on metals. Creep strength increases as oxidation resistance increases.

Dye penetrant test is also called as liquid penetrant test. This method detects discontinuities or cracks open to surfaces and not those present below the surface. This test can be used for any metals and non-metals. Surface cleaning, application of penetrant, removal of excess penetrant, observation and inspection are the different steps followed in this process.

Radiographic test is a non-destructive test. This method uses short wavelength electromagnetic radiations such as X rays and γ rays. They have high penetrating power and pass through any metal. This absorption depends upon density and thickness of the metal used. This method detects internal defects such as porosity, inclusion and voids.
