    2j-r = 2*4-3 = 5
    so, m < 2j-r
    Thus, deficient truss.

    - In diagram shown above, the number of joints (j) are 4.

    - Number of members (n) are 6 and the reaction components are 3.

    - The condition for redundant truss is n > 2j – R

    Here, 6 less than 9. Hence , the condition is not satisfied.

    - The condition for deficient truss is n < 2j – R

    here 6 < (2 x 4) - 3

    6 < 9

    For deficient truss, the condition is satisfied. Hence it is a deficient truss.
