    Apart from other classification criteria, oscillators are also divided or classified on the basis of presence or absence of feedback.

    Oscillators which uses positive feedback and exhibit their dependency on the feedback for their operation are known as 'Feedback type of oscillators', while oscillators which do not employ any kind of feedback mechanism are known as 'Non-feedback oscillators'.

    UJT relaxation oscillator does not exhibit any feedback while the phase-shift, Wein bridge, Hartley, Colpitt's, Clapp, etc. involves the feedback mechanisms.
