Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi has given approval for the establishment of a new AIIMS at Gorakhpur, UP under the PMSSY or Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surkasha Yojana.
  • Cost of the project for the establishment of the new AIIMS in Gorakhpur will be INR 1011 crore.
  • Institution shall have 750 beds including Emergency Trauma Beds, AYUSH beds, Pricate Beds and ICU Specialty and Super Speciality Beds.
  • Establishment of the new AIIMS will serve the purpose of providing super speciality health care to the population while creating a large pool of doctors and health workers in the region for primary and secondary level institutions being created under National Health Mission.
