      Link Control Protocol :

        - The PPP protocol provides many useful capabilities with the help of a Link Control Protocol (LCP) and the Network Control Protocol (NCP).

        - The Link Control Protocol is used to set-up configure, maintain and terminate a link connection.

        - PPP is about links and LCP is about controlling those links.

        - LCP is responsible for its overall successful operation and the actions of other protocols.

Set-up configure : The process of setting up and negotiating the parameters of a link.

Maintain a link : The process of managing an opened link.

Terminate a link : The process of closing an existing link when it is no longer needed.
