    - Study related to theory of machines is based on kinematics and dynamics.

    - Kinematics is the study of relative motion between machine parts. It deals with the study of displacement, position, rotation, speed, velocity and acceleration.

    - Dynamics is the study of forces acting on various machine parts. It is further divided into statics and kinetics.

    - Kinetics deals with inertia forces caused due to combined effect of mass and motion of parts.

    - Statics deals with inertia forces acting on machine parts which may not consider mass of the components.
