    - There are various types of casting processes on the basis of expandable mould - permanent pattern or expandable mould - expandable pattern or permanent mould.

    - The casting processes sand casting, shell-mould casting and plaster-mould casting are expandable mould - permanent pattern type of castings.

    - Among these casting process, sand casting has no size and shape limits because it uses a mass of packed sand to pour molten metal in it.

    - Other two shell-mould and plaster-mould casting have good surface finish but have dimension limits over sand casting.
