    - In down milling process, the workpiece is fed in the same direction as that of cutter's tangential velocity.

    - The cutter enters the top of the workpiece and cuts the chip.

    - The chip gets thinner as the cutter rotates in progression in down milling process.

    - The advantages of down milling process are as follows:

    1. Down milling process produces better surface finish and dimensional accuracy.

    2. This process permits lower clamping force.

    3. The coolant can be fed easily in down milling process.
