World Soil Day celebrated on Dec 5th 2016The World Soil Day 2016 was observed on Dec 5th, 2016 at the FAO headquarters in Rome.

The theme for the day is “Soils and pulses, a symbiosis for life.”

It focuses on positive contributions of pulses to soil properties, such as fixing the atmosphere nitrogen and improving its biodiversity, fertility and structure.

The World Soil Day aims at connecting people with soil and raising awareness about how important this element is for human existence.

2016 was also declared as the International Year of Pulses.
