Importance of a process in the production of software - Project management (PMP)

Describe the importance of a process in the production of software.

Software production is a result of complex set of activities that vary from client to client and also project to project. One might try to produce software without processes creating a chaotic customer relationship as a result of lack of processes and untimed deliveries. Processes allow structuring and planning of activities needed for production. The main goal is to be as efficient as possible with minimal costs and maximum return on investment to the customer.

Software is a result of understanding the need of the client, and then building something which meets the client’s objectives. In area of software, the requirements change very frequently and thus processes need to be in place to manage various activities which would result in the production since the very beginning. Processes allow for planning, managing, operating, implementing, and monitoring tasks efficiently.
