answer breakup

both C & D are the answers.
To get the whole number(because broken/unbroken glasses can''''t be the fraction, they vary from 1-12), the sum of ratios must be the factor of 12.
since a & b are factors of 12 and c & d are not factors of 12.
the answer is both C & D

Answer

12 mirrors ( broken : b unbroken : u )

The k technique is very useful here!

(A) b =2k u= 6k ;
Can you write b = k and u = 3k
(k >= 1)
k+3k = 4 k

=> 4k = 12, => k= 3 -------------Workable

(B) b =k u= 2k ;
(k >= 1)
i.e k+2k = 3k

=> 3k = 12, => k= 4 -------------Workable

(C) b =3k u= 2k ;
(k =3k-2k >= 1)
i.e 3k+2k = 5k

=> 5k = 12, => k= 12/5 ------------- Not Workable

(D)b=2k u =5k;
(k=2k-5k >=1) ------ wrong

The correct answer is therefore (C).
