In covering a distance of 60 km, Ramu takes two hours more than Shyamu. If Ramu triples his speed, then he would take one hour less than Shyamu. Ramu’s speed is

Options
- 13.33 kmph
- 12.25 kmph
- 15 kmph
- 10 kmph

CORRECT ANSWER : 13.33 kmph

Discussion Board
Distance is same

Sr*(T+2)=3*Sr*(T-1)
TSr+2Sr=3TSr-3Sr
(3+2)Sr=TSr(3-1)
5Sr=2TSr
T=5/2
T=2.5

Sr=D/(T+2)
Sr=60/(2.5+2)
Sr= 13.33kmph

answer breakup

Sr = 60/(x+2) ----(1)
Ss = 60/x
3Sr = 60/(x-1) ------(2)
dividing 2 by 1
3 = x+2/x-1
x = 2.5
substituting x = 2.5 in equation 1
sr = 600/45 = 40/3 = 13.33

t&d

13.33 km/hr

Let speed(in kmph) of Ramu=R and Shyamu=S, then
According to 1st condition: 60/R - 60/S = 2 => RS = 30S - 30R ---(i) and
According to 2nd condition: 60/S - 60/(3R) = 1 => RS = 60R - 20S ---(ii)
Comparing (i) & (ii), 30S - 30R = 60R - 20S => 5S = 9R
As we require ''R'' so substituting S=9R/5 in Equation 60/R - 60/S = 2, we get 60/R - 60/(9R/5) = 2
=> R = 40/3 = 13.33
