CORRECT ANSWER : 25 days

Discussion Board
answer

A''s Work = 1/6 Time: 10 days
B''s Work = 5/6 Time: 40 days

Adding both works done separately with respect to time:

1/6 + 5/6 = 10 + 40
1 = 50
Dividing the work in two persons.

1/2 = 50/2

1/2 = 25 Days (where 1/2 represents the work divided in two persons.)

A can do a piece of work in 60 days....***

Ans:

A - 1d-> 1/60 part

A- 10d -> 10*(1/60) = 1/6 part

remaining work -> by B -> 5/6 part in 40d

So, in 1d -> B = (5/6)*(1/40) = 1/48 part

together (A+B) = 1/60 + 1/48 = (48+60)/(48*60) in 1d.

so, total work by A+ B is : ( 48*60/108 ) i.e. 26.6

i did not get the exact answer as 25,can anyone give exact one

In my calculation,
It is given that A can do the total work in 60 days,
so,in 10 days he can do 1/6 th part of work,
similiarily,as per given B completed remaining 5/6th part of work in 40 days,
we can say that B ''s capacity to complete whole part of work is,1/48
hence, both A &B can complete together work in [1/60+1/48]=108/2880
that is 2880/108 days=26.6 days approximately

it is given that A can do total work in 60 days,

i did not get the answer exactly 25.Can anyone post the answer with clear explaination.

This way to explain write or wrong

He works 10 day = 60-10=50
And 40+10=50
1A = 50
1B= 50
50/2= 25
