A new football league will galvanize Indian Football

There are many sports in India that have to come out of Cricket's shadow and Football is one of them. Fans should be as excited for football as they are for cricket. Badminton is catching up with a few of our world class players giving tough time to top notch players of the world and even bringing glory by winning tournaments. Football is vastly followed everywhere in the world.

We are nowhere in this game and every single step to create environment for this game is worth our applause.

For

Football league featuring former international stars would be first of its kind and looks very bright idea. The league would comprise of city based teams and set to clash for 3 months starting January next year. The pattern and design of league is quite in tandem with highly successfully IPL. The good news is that several corporate, bollywood celebrities and even IPL term owners have expressed interest in it. The 3 months clash will be a definite treat for fans and will also penetrate more fan base. The advertisers will have their share of cake in terms of revenue and players will not only be boosted with confidence but with substantial take home. International players will grab eyeballs and raise the level, providing valuable experience to our players and many younger players will take part.

Currently we have domestic competition like I-league but it has no international players and hardly has any breakthrough in fan base. I-league and new league together will revolutionize Indian football.

Against

It looks too ambitious, given the sorry state of game in India and popularity of cricket also hampers its glory.
The facilities and infrastructure we have are very limited. Making Football successful would require string of football academies and some foreign coaches.
