AIEEE or JEE, which one should I be taking to get a good college for mechanical engineering? What all colleges come under JEE?

For your information, starting 2013, admission to the undergraduate courses in engineering in all Union government funded technical institutes and various other self-financing institutes, only a single national level entrance exam will be conducted, named as Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). This entrance will be replacing 2 major entrance examinations in India, JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) held by IIT’s and AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) held by CBSE. JEE is further divided into 2 parts i.e. JEE (Main) which is now used for AIEEE and JEE (Advanced) for IIT-JEE. The biggest benefit of this JEE examination is that it will reduce the stress on the students as students are not required to give multiple tests and the syllabus has been merged to make it easier. JEE serves as the only entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate courses in technical colleges in India. There are 15 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), 30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs), 4 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), 5 Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) and central technical universities. This single entrance exam is accepted by all states in India.
