What is Horticulture?

Horticulture is an art of garden cultivation or management. It is the science and art of producing, improving and marketing the fruits, vegetables and flowers. Production and consumption of highly healthy fruits and vegetables help us to remain healthy. Horticulture affects our lives on a daily basis by providing us nutritional food.

What is the eligibility required and admission process for this course?

Indira Gandhi Agricultural University – A Pre Agriculture Test and students should be below the age of 16 years during the time of admission.

Doon Business School – Students should have passed 10+2 in science stream with 50% of marks. An interview is conducted which is followed by a group discussion.

Bihar Agricultural University – Candidates are selected through Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination conducted each year by the Government of Bihar for 85% of seat. For rest 15 % of the seat, the selection would be made by All India Entrance Examination which is conducted by ICAR.

Shri Shivaji College of Horticulture – The students should have passed 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from Maharashtra state board or an equivalent examination with the same subjects.

What is the duration of the course?

B. Sc Horticulture is a four year program and is divided into 8 semesters.

What is the fee to pursue this program?

The total fee is around Rupees 200000.

Students can get acquainted with various aspects of horticulture and its related specializations.

They have a scope in horticulture departments as landscaping professionals, managers of existing orchards, field officers in banks etc. They can also pursue M. Sc. And PH.D for exploring opportunities as educationists and as senior posts in government departments.
