    Biomedical engineering is one of the emerging fields in today’s world. It has very high potential to grow and this field gives tremendous opportunities to the engineers for research, development and employment. Biomedical engineering focuses on improving the life quality of living being by combining the technical knowledge in biology and medicines. It has many applications worldwide as it plays vital roles in prevention of diseases, therapy and rehabilitation. It is mostly concerned with the therapies, medical devices, and diagnostic devices and in treating cancerous diseases. Biomedical engineering includes fields like bio-instrumentation, bio-materials, bio-mechanics, imaging, genetic engineering, orthopaedic surgery and others. It uses high quality computers to detect and treat the diseases. Biomedical engineering is popular due to growing demand worldwide.


    Biomedical engineering is an emerging field not only in India but worldwide but India has witnessed tremendous growth than any other country. More and more people now days moving towards medical science, to become doctor and some to pursue their career in medical field. By the end of 2011 this field will have job growth of 20.2% on average. Health care industry which is being associated with it is growing rapidly in development area. This field has already garnered 30% of annual growth and it is getting closer to Singapore. India is emerging in healthcare destinations. “The Indian Healthcare Industry is estimated at US$22 billion and the Medical device market is estimated at US $ 1.85 billion and growing at 15% per annum”.
