  • Introduction

Electronic Engineering is one of most sought after engineering course offered by nearly each of the top engineering colleges in India. The main reason for that is the vast range of applications of electronics engineering. It is a specific branch of engineering concerned with the study of electrons. This field of engineering is employed for performing chemical testing. It is also used in the testing of transportation technologies. Electronics engineers are involved in the designing, maintenance and manufacturing of various products. They are involved in the development of the highly progressive technologies which is involved in the development of microprocessors and fibre optics.

Performance and growth of industry in India

Electronics has improved our lives by improving productivity in industries like oil, energy, agriculture and so many other important sectors of economy. In steel, petroleum and chemical industries it is the electronic devices that direct, control and test production processes. Health care industry also depends on electronic instruments to perform chemical tests and to check body functions. The safety in transportation, factories and mines and in homes relies heavily on electronics.

    Options and Opportunities

In India Electronic Engineers can be employed in State Government, Central Government, public and private sector and organizations such as MTNL, Indian Telephone Industries, Post and Telegraph Department, Bharat Electronics Limited, Defense, Research Establishment, Entertainment transmission industry etc. They can also take teaching or research as their career option in India or abroad. They can even start their own business of manufacturing electronics parts or components, repair or assembly shop for electronic items.
