  • Introduction

Mechanical engineering is in very high demand as it is one of the oldest engineering. Mechanical engineering deals with designing, development, production and use of mechanical tools to solve several problems. Each and every sector requires mechanical engineers such as thermal power station industry, air conditioning industry, gas turbines industry, and other industries. It involves the principles of engineering and hard work to achieve the goal to build the tools which are helpful to create and modify the architecture of the elements. Mechanical engineers use the principles of energy, materials and mechanics to design the mechanical tools and devices which they use to solve many development works. This field includes other categorized fields such as research, development, manufacturing of the tools being created and deployment of it. Engineers use these tools in elevators, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, robots, and electric generators.

Performance and growth of industry in India

Growth of mechanical engineering field is growing day by day and soon it will be the hottest field to go in. Its performance has left a mark on every industry such that this field remains stable even in the situation of recession. But sometimes recession can affect the entry level people but the professionals in this field will survive in the meltdown periods. The growth curve is stable and increasing as more and more people are showing interest in this field and requirements are also rising up. Most of the growth is being registred in industries and areas where the field of mechanical engineering is prominent. According to the survey this field is the most sought field in engineering as it is going to be the higest paid by 2015.

    Options and Opportunities

The opportunities are too much in many sectors as the engineers are growing in this field and more and more people are finding its positive side. Engineers can work in both private and public sectors. This field requires expertise in handling the mechanical tools to solve day to day problems. Mechanical engineers are also suitable in government sectors such as in Defence, PWD and CPWD. Engineers can also go in other disciplines of engineering such as aeronautical, agricultural, automobile, chemical, and power plants, as well as the railways for the purpose of designing their system and maintaining it.
