Bit By Bit: CeBIT and Infosys Team Up To Launch +91 For Sound-bytes and More For Tech Start-Ups


Infosys has experienced a turnaround under its current CEO, Vishal Sikka. In a move that will bring further cheer to the prospects of this company, and ITE in general, the IT giant has tied up with CeBIT for launching +91, an initiative aiming to help boost the functioning of tech startups in Bangalore. CeBIT’s website stated that ”Infosys is a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing solutions. We enable clients, in more than 30 countries, to stay a step ahead of emerging business trends and outperform the competition. We help them transform and thrive in a changing world by co-creating breakthrough solutions that combine strategic insights and execution excellence.” The flagship IT event Bangalore ITE.Biz regained its sheen following the partnership with CeBIT.

The +91 initiative will be launched at the biz event. According to the CeBIT website, the keynote speakers for the event include Vishal Sikka, (CEO and MD of Infosys), Mark McDonald (Accenture) (International) MD; Marten Pieters (Managing Director & CEO, Vodafone India Ltd); Vanitha Narayanan (IBM India Managing Director); Kumud Srinivasan, (Intel India president); Manu Saale, (Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Research & Development India )and R. Chandrasekhar, (president, Nasscom).
CeBIT India also showcased around more than 600 brands from 35 nations under one roof in Karnataka. “Around 150 are completely new to Karnataka,” Mehul Shah, MD, Hannover Milano Fairs India was quoted as having said. CeBIT India will also showcase technology companies from TN, UP and Gujarat at the biz event. The theme of this year’s event is “Ideas for digital India” and “New Perspectives in IT Business”. Other highlights include events for citizen empowerment such as eGov and mGov and a session on Karnataka: The ITE Destination.

There is also a special programme known as +91 initiative that will showcase promising startups with potential for growth from the electronics, IT and ITeS sectors. Infosys has partnered with the largest technology fair in the world CeBIT for making strategic changes through its +91 challenge.

The company is partnering with CeBIT, the world's largest technology fair, to mentor and make strategic investments in tech startups. Infosys will be mentoring small tech t firms at the +91 a a startup challenge organised by CeBIT-which will make its debut next week in Bangalore. "It is an exciting time to be an entrepreneur in India, and we believe India's budding start-ups are go ding start-ups are going to be a hotbed for innovation," Pravin Rao, chief operating officer at Infosys was quoted as saying.

"We are partnering with them (startups) to address our client requirements, and finally , we are looking to make strategic investments where appropriate." He also added "Our association with +91 is an extension of that effort, and we are excited to be involved. This is a fantastic platform aimed at encouraging the vibrant ecosystem of entrepreneurs in India and promoting them among global audiences."

Named after the calling code in India, +91, the initiative will connect entrepreneurs with their counterparts as well as global media, support programs, consultants and angel investors as well as venture capitalists.
