Crime among children - Effect of spending less time with parents?

Recent figures show an increase in violent crime among youngsters under the age of 18. Some psychologists claim that the basic reason for this is that children these days are not
getting the social and emotional learning they need from parents and teachers.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Violence and crime incidences are increasing to the ever high now-a-days. Stepping out has become a risk factor for the common man. Nobody is aware of his life the next moment. Life is completely insecure. The most pathetic part of this, being, the accused in their tender age.

We can find a lot many crime incidences in the newspaper daily, where the key accused is figured to be under 18. The offence that they are tagged with remains so brutal that they should be punished severely as per humanitarian law, still they get their way out easily through the loopholes of the law getting the shelter of being a child, or under 18.

When we carefully analyse the reason behind these incidences, it is definitely not the illiteracy, or ignorance, or poverty of these children, but the way they are brought up during the course of their childhood. It is very rare, where we see a child brought up as an orphan ending up with an accused certificate; it is often from the family with parents and siblings.

The children should be taught with the basic emotions since their childhood. The affection, love and care should be property imparted into the child’s moulding mind. They should be explained the virtues of goodness and badness. The child should be able to feel other’s pain and emotion, in order to handle the relationships in life carefully in their life. The teenager should be made aware for the physical and physiological changes in the human structure in a decent and delicate manner, which could provide them with the details with the words of mildness without tingling their emotions. The brutality and violent behaviour of the child should be controlled in the first instance, so as not to let them grow these virtues in the phase of life.

A child should be taught the social behaviour and basic manners. These are very much required to lead a respectable life. A child should be made aware of the incidences in the society, along with its impact on the victims and their near and dear ones. These small pieces of information slowly mould their mind and they start learning how to respect others’ feelings and emotions.

In the development of a child, the role of parents and teachers is very crucial. The parents teach their child at home with their behaviour to their family members and outsiders. A teacher in the same way spreads the virtue of goodness by their way of conversation and interaction within the campus of the institute and in the outside world.

A child is like a mirror which reflects anything that is kept in front of it. Those children who have faced some serious offences in their tender age, have its deep roots in their mind, which unknowingly develops to project as such a big crime. Also, the children who never get the appropriate time, love and affection from their parents, divert themselves to some other means like Internet or friends. These are the gambles of life, where they can get to the best or to the worst phase of life.

We often find the crime accused from such small age is mainly from the lower socio-economic strata, or the higher class. Children of middle class are very rarely involved in such offences, as the family bonding is best seen in this class of people. The lower strata, though grow up their kids with love and care, but fail to trace their activities and impart social education. Oppositely, the higher class people are too social, to give enough time to their kids. Such high society kids are mostly deprived of love and care.

Psychologists blaming the parents and teachers being the responsible ones for the frame-work of such kids, is very correct. This is high time and we need to take some step at the earliest to curb these offences from ruining our society and playing with the lives of such children. This could be possible only if every citizen of the country realizes his moral and social duty and take measures to guide and pave righteous way to these diverted kids.
