Committee formed for north eastern states
A committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of M.P. Bezbaruah, Member, North Eastern Council and other members to look into the various kinds of concerns of the people hailing from the North Eastern States who are living in different parts of the country, especially the Metropolitan areas.
IMF growth projections for India
International Monetary Fund has projected a growth rate of 5.4% for the fiscal year 2014-15. It is to be noted that this institute has earlier predicted a growth rate of 4.6% for the fiscal year of 2013-14.
RBI forms committee
RBI has forms a committee to study the recommendation of FSLRC or financial sector legislative reforms committee in the field of banking sector. The 9 member committee will be headed by G Gopalakrishnan who is the executive director of RBI. The committee will examine the skills required at various levels/operations to deliver on the required role and also identify qualifications relevant to specific areas of operation of bank and non banks.
Archana Bhargava, CMD of Union bank resigns
The CMD of union bank Archana Bhargava resigned following the poor performance of the bank. The Kolkata based bank posed a loss consecutively in the third quarter and the NPA of the bank rose by 184% in this quarter. The RBI had earlier issued a caveat to all the banks regarding distribution of loans. Rising NPA is seen as a strong threat to economy as well as the banking sector.
Global ayurveda festival 2014
Kerala has hosted the global ayurveda festival for this year. The chief guest of the function is Malaysian president Rajkeswar Purryag. Kerala is the first fully ayurveda accessible state of the country.
New railway section
Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge will lay the foundation stone for a new broad gauge railway between Chikkamagalur and Sakleshpur involving 47 km on February 23 (Sunday) at Chikkamagalur Railway Station .
