World Mobile Congress held in Barcelona
World mobile congress was organized in Barcelona on 24th February, 2014. In this meeting, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop unveiled Nokia’s new android based Smartphone of X series.
This is the first time that Nokia has used android based operating system which is owned by Google. Before this, they always used windows based phones.
On this platform, many mobile makers presented their smart phones and new technologies.
Hockey India League, 2014
Delhi daredevils defeated Punjab warriors to win the final of Hockey India League in Ranchi. HIL was held on the basis of IPL as a club hockey tournament. Ranchi Rhinos came third while Uttar Pradesh wizards stood at fourth position.
T Nanda Kumar, new head of National dairy development board (NDDB)
Retired civil servant T Nanda Kumar has taken over as the new NDDB chief replacing the former chief of board Amrita Patel. His tenure will be of 5 years which can be further extended. NDDB was set up in 1965, by an act of parliament.
Interim President of Ukraine
New president of Ukraine is Oleksandr Turchynov who was made the interim president of the nation after Victor Yankovych then president of Ukraine was forced to resign after a slew of protests against him.
It all started when Mr. Yankovych refused to sign a trade agreement between EU and Ukraine. The protests which began in November 2013 were triggered after the president showed inclination towards Russia.
India and Canada sign co production agreement
India and Canada signed a co production agreement in the field of filmmaking. This agreement will help the filmmakers of both the countries to work together in various streams of film making and production, I&B secretary Bimal Julka signed the agreement on India’s behalf which will also boost the exchange of arts and culture between both the countries.
ISRO to launch Astrosat in 2015
Indian space research organization will launch Astrosat- India’s first dedicated astronomy satellite in 2015 with PSLV. Astrosat is currently proposed as a multi-wavelength astronomy mission on an IRS-class satellite into a near-Earth, equatorial orbit by the PSLV.
