Kamala Haasan, Parveen Sultana selected for Padma Bhushan and Paresh Rawal, Vidya Balan selected for Padma Sree Awards
Classical Singer Begum Parveen Sultana and well known Actor and best director Kamala Haasan were selected for Prestigious Padma Bhushan Awards and for the Padma Shri Awards.
Bollywood Actors Paresh Rawal and Vidya Balan were selected. Padma Shri is highest Civilian Award.

4th National Voters Day Celebrated by Election Commission of India
Across India, 4th National Voters Day Celebrated by Election Commission of India. Ethical voting is the theme of 4th National Voters Day. These celebrations started from 25th January 2011. Nearly 8.5 lakh Polling stations come under the functions of NVD. 46000 Educational Institutions also celebrated this day.
Pitroda Committee submitted report
To review the institutional framework of Prasar Bharti, Pitroda committee constituted by information and broadcasting Ministry has submitted the report. Sam Pitroda headed by this committee. He is the Advisor to the Prime Minister o Public Information Infrastructure. On 29th January 2013, committee was set up. Committee recommended to give freedom to the Prasar bharti with administrative and financial powers. It also recommended to amend the Act of 1990.
India Posts to start rolling out ATMs from February
In anticipation of getting a banking licence from the Reserve Bank of India, the Department of Posts will roll out its own ATMs, with the first of them set to be functional on February 5 across three cities.
Dr. Tej Vir Singh won the UNWTO Ulysses Prize
Dr. Tej Vir Singh from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh won the 2013 UNWTO Ulysses Prize for Excellence in the Creation and Dissemination of Knowledge. Dr.Singh is the professor and Founding Director of the Centre for Tourism Research & Development (CTRD) in India.
Aviation ministry removed V.P.Agrawal from position of AAI chairman
The Aviation Ministry removed V.P.Agrawal as chairman of the state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI). Alok Sinha has given additional charge as AAI chairman. Alok Sinha is a joint secretary in the Aviation Ministry.
