Does media interfere too much with the personal lives of celebrities?
a.) Celebrities have a right to live personal life. Media should not keep it camera focussed on them all the time.
b.) Fans want to know about the personal lives of celebrities and cameras are the price they pay for name and fame.

Which statement do you agree with more? Provide reasons.

I completely agree to the fact that celebrities have a right to a personal life and hence media should not keep cameras focussed on them all the time. Celebrities also deserve a right to privacy just like we do.

At the same time, it is also true that unlike other professions, their profession is much more glamorous and flashy and hence, it comes with a certain price which is lack of personal space. Though some celebrities who have been in this industry for a long time get used to so much attention and may not get bothered by it at all, but there are others who feel suffocated due to the same.

The worst part is that after chasing with camera, most of the things that are published in magazines and tabloids about the private lives of the celebrities are either highly exaggerated or absolutely false. They are purposely manipulated by the media personnel to get highest viewership for their media channel. Everything they do is, may be as simple as going to temple for worship is manipulated into a newsworthy story thereby causing lots of controversies and disturbances in the lives of these celebrities.

It cannot be denied that we are living in a society where there is a complete addiction to celebrity culture. People are more interested in their real lives than reel lives. And media tries to fulfil these desires of the public by intruding into the lives of celebrities and extracting as much information as possible and fabricating the same to satisfy the public and create a wave for themselves.

Celebrities do have an emotional corner and the public should respect that. Making their broken marriages / affairs public and encashing entertainment factor on the same is not ethical. Their profession is to entertain the masses which they do with the help of their movies and music albums. Beyond that it is their personal life, just like we have a personal life. They also have secrets just like we have.

They should have the leverage of deciding what part of their private life they want to make public. Media should know its limits and should operate within those limits so that the privacy and dignity of the celebrities is maintained.

  • I completely agree with the statement that media interferes too much with the personal lives of celebrities. In today’s world, the downside of fame is media and its interference with the people’s personal lives. Just because a celebrity is famous due to his work and entertains the public, it does not mean that he does not have a personal life of its own. Every human whether a common man or a celebrity would like to keep his personal and professional life separate. But media crosses its line all the time. They invade in celebrities’ personal life and leave no opportunity to publicize, criticize and mock it. And moreover, mostly all the stories written by the media nowadays are either over exaggerated or completely false. Just to get the viewer’s attention and to create gossip, media publishes a lot of false things about celebrities’, without realizing the fact that this would bring so much nuisance into their lives. Thus, media should act within its limit and not invade into a celebrities’ private life.
