What are the eligibility criteria to do a major in botany?


To study botany at UG Level you can pursue a course in BSc – Botany, which is a regular course offered by most universities in India . To get into this course, you should have cleared your 10 + 2 with Biology as one of your subjects. To get into a PG – Botany course, you are required to possess a graduate degree in Botany. The 10 + 2 cut off for different universities is different.

What role do botanists play in the society?


Botanists have a very important role to play in modern science and industry.
- The effect of a Botanist’s work can be seen on agriculture, soil and crop science, conservation, forestry, and horticulture.
- Their studies and researches on various aspects of the plant kingdom like origin and development of plant species, taxonomic classification, plant physiology, plant pathology, plant fossils, mycology etc. have a direct impact on development of science.
