What is the eligibility for entrance in the course of Biophysics?


To study B.Sc. in Biophysics the candidate must have cleared higher secondary with at least 50% marks with English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science as subjects. Some of the universities also conduct common admission tests for entrance in the course. These courses are generally of three to four years duration.

After attaining the undergraduate degree in Biophysics or having Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Biology and Chemistry the candidate can join the masters and then a PhD level course in physics or a sub-discipline of Physics. Again universities give entrance to the candidates in these courses on the basis of admission tests.

Biophysicists who have done PhD can undergo post doctoral research in a university or government laboratory. In medical Biophysics, one to two years post degree clinical training is required.

What are the skills required to excel in the field of Biophysics?


Apart from having academic inclination and aptitude towards physics, biology and mathematics, the aspirant must be able to work in details and should be inclined towards finding the research based solution of the projects after doing detailed study. He must have interest in scientific phenomena. As the career of Biophysics requires most of the time doing extensive research, the aspirant must have attributes like perseverance, precision and creative thinking.

Being an interdisciplinary field the professional should be able to work in team and must have good written and verbal communication skills to effectively complete the work and to present the same. To effectively work in this field and to do the same with precision the professional must also have excellent computer skills.
