India and the United States of America signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation to establish the PACESetter Fund. The fund will support the Promoting Energy Access Through Clean Energy (PEACE) track of the US-India Partnership to Advance Clean Energy (PACE) to accelerate the commercialization of off-grid clean energy through early-stage grant funding grants to develop and test innovative products, systems, and business models.

The first recipients of the Bharat Ratna were politician C. Rajagopalachari, scientist C. V. Raman and philosopher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who were honoured in 1954. The Vedaranyam March or Vedaranyam Satyagraha was organised to protest the salt tax imposed by the British Raj in India. The march took place in April 1930 and was the second of its kind following the Dandi March organised by Mahatma Gandhi, both in the framework of the Civil Disobedience Movement. The Vedaranayam March was led by a group of 100 volunteers from the Indian National Congress (INC) under the leadership of C. Once the domain of celibate male monks, it is now performed by male as well as female dancers. Sattriya, is one among the eight principal classical Indian dance traditions.
