If you face a problem with your own performance, what would you do?

The purpose here is to see if you are able to identify the problems with your own performance and take corrective measures. To answer this question, you can say something like, "If I face a problem with my own performance, I will try to estimate how big is the problem, what is causing the problem and then take action on each of the listed things."

Your answer to this question signifies whether you can identify problems with yourself or not. So, you can say something like: “If I see a problem with my own performance, I’ll try to find out and analyse the factors behind it & work on each of them.”

  • This question could simply follow the previous question where you were asked about how you would deal with an under performing member of a team. Now that you have to evaluate your own performance on a critical note, you should be open about the fact that you can also go wrong sometimes. A good employee is one who has it in him to be his own harshest critic when needed. You should be able to identify your weaknesses and how it is affecting the performance of the team or the company. You should answer this question in a way that should give the impression that you would learn from mistakes and would keep on improvising and pushing yourself till you have mastered the work.

"I would try to identify my drawbacks and if needed I would be willing to talk about it to one of the seniors who could guide me about where I have been going wrong. Since I am my own harshest critic, I believe that I would do all that I can to improvise and learn from mistakes to perfect the work at hand. I sincerely try not to repeat mistakes and I would do all that it takes to learn what is required for being a better performer
