It is the women who set male mindset for themselves

The number of molestation or rape cases are increasing not only in villages but also in the metro cities at a very fast pace. The main cause behind this is the deep rooted mindset of treating women as objects or weaker sex, this mentality has been found in many males. But is this mindset because of the women or is there any other cause.

I personally believe that the development of the child happens right at a very young age which is mostly learned by seeing how your parents treat each other and what qualities are being inculcated in the child. If the child sees violence against women at home, he will also grab the same quality and be the same person as his father is. To a certain extent, yes the women are to be blamed to set the mindset of the people. As the child learns maximum things from his mother and whatever qualities the mother imparts he grasps it and becomes the person he is. For instance, the Delhi gang rape case, where one of the victim’s mother made a statement that her child has done nothing wrong and being hanged to death is a too severe punishment for this. If the parents themselves will not teach the children to respect women, how will they respect others and their feelings when that has been imprinted in their life?

On the other hand, it is also the psychology of the individual that changes him irrespective of what qualities have been inculcated in him at a younger age or the experiences that he has faced make him that kind of a person. Because crimes like raping a 2 year old or 3 year old girl are happening because the individual faces some kind of psychic problem and hence he is doing that. Education and how other females are being treated in the family and the surroundings also play an important role in setting the male mindset. Any male by birth is not inculcated with the values that girl are a weaker sex, it is done by the society, family and friends.

Thereby concluding with the thought; females are not the only ones to be blamed for setting the mindset of the people. It is all a vicious circle of deep rooted ideologies which have been ingrained for generations now. The male mindset will take time to change and for that not only the mindset of the women will matter but also the kind of education imparted to the child and most importantly the entire society will have to change their mindset to bring about a change. Yes, of course women mindset plays an important role as being a mother, sister they should act as role model for the child to learn to respect women.

  • If we talk in respect to the Indian women, then yes, women do create a narrow mind-set for their own species amongst the males. Every male is given birth by a female and is brought up under the supervision of their parents, and most of the time mother; as father play the role of earning hands in Indian society. In such a situation, the male child absorbs the mind-set of the mother.

Though we shout much for the equality for women, still those are the females who start up the debate for women to be weaker in comparison to men. Every quality in an individual is a gift of nature. It is our perception on how to receive those traits. Considering the physical strength as a negativity is a common note among women, who impart the same to their children. Right from the childhood, Indian families unfailingly discriminate their male and female child. Though they are provided with equal education, yet the exposure to the outside world, the confidence and courage factor remains a setback among the Indian girls, a note from the parents to their girl child on how to be restricted in terms of movement in the society.

With such a narrow minded aptitude right since the starting years of life, we cannot expect a male to give the equal social status, respect and independence to the females they face in their life. These males tend to have a superiority complex with an over-confidence to rule anything and everything. This mind-set needs to be changed right from the upbringing of the children. We can expect a change in the coming generations, as the present day youth being literate, understand the value of humanity.
