L&T Infotech Placement Experience & Process for Freshers - 2016

On 15th and 16th of October, L&T Infotech held placement test at our college in Bangalore. Around 750 students from different colleges participated in the placement test.

This is how the selection process went ahead:

They conducted the process in five steps:

1. Aptitude Test
2. Group Discussion
3. Essay Writing
4. Technical Interview
5. HR Round

1. Aptitude Test

The aptitude test consisted of four modules: quantitative aptitude, logical, verbal and computer. The test was conducted online and it had 60% sectional cut off.

Aptitude consisted of almost all important chapters, like number series, profit & loss, data interpretation, permutation & combination, square roots and basic calculation-based problems.

Logical reasoning consisted of only sitting arrangement, statements & assumptions and coding & decoding.

In verbal section, questions were from jumbled sentences, fill in the blanks, antonyms & synonyms and reading comprehensions.

In computer section, questions were asked from the concepts of DBMS, C and C++.

The difficulty level of the test was easy to moderate.

Around 600 students cracked the aptitude test.

2. Group Discussion

The next step was Group Discussion that was based on case study. We had been provided with a sheet and 15 minutes to go through it.

Make sure you use those 15 minutes to grab the points and make the notes of good things. Take a chance and speak about the topic.

This was only to check confidence and communication skills. This might be a difficult round. Only 350 candidates got selected for the next round.

3. Essay Writing

In this, a topic was given to us on which we had to write an essay in 400-450 words. The time provided was 30 minutes.

This will be an online process. So, you have to manage your time along with the correct grammar and spelling.

The round was to analyze the typing speed, spellings & grammar. This round was not an eliminatory round.

4. Technical Interview

The candidates selected in the GD round appeared for the technical interview.

As our branches were different (CS, IT and ECE) the questions asked from us during technical round were also different: Some of the sample questions of interview are:
  • Tell the difference between C and C++.
  • What is the process of normalization?
  • Define the terms semaphorous.
  • Explain the importance of entity-relationships diagrams with the help of examples.
  • What is repeater?
  • Explain the referential integrity.
  • What is heap sort?
  • Tell the function of SYNC motor.
  • Explain the uses of I controller.
  • Write some example queries of SQL.
  • Explain the complexity of quick sort and merge sort.
After completing this round, 300 students got selected for an interview with HR representative.

4. HR Round

The HR round was very easy to crack. The questions asked were on general basis.

Some of the questions are:
  • What is the direction of rotation of ceiling fan?
  • Which data structure you used in your project? (Only if you have worked on project)
  • What is the mission in your life?
  • Where do you see yourself after 3 years?
  • Tell me about your hobbies.
  • Do you think you are qualified for the position?
  • Are you an extrovert or introvert?

  • Here are some tips to help you crack the selection process:

  • Prepare the computer section well. Focus on the chapters, like DBMS, C++ and C.
  • For Group Discussion & essay writing, you must be aware of the current topics. Always read newspapers to be updated and it will also help you to improve your verbal ability.
  • For Group Discussion, try to speak in front of mirror to improve your pronunciation and ascent.
  • Practice the important diagrams and flowcharts for technical interview. You can expect questions on this.
