Measures for one who is not able to meet his targets on a regular basis.

If you are a team leader and one of your team member is not able to meet his targets on a regular basis. You discussed it with him and tried all measures to improve his performance in that role but nothing works. What would you do?

When faced with a situation like this, may be you can try to put that person to another job and if that also doesn't work you might have to fire them off. This is again about emotional intelligence and making practical decisions in favor of business.

  • Being in a position that entrusts you the responsibility of being a leader of a team comes with the kind of difficulties where your decision matters the most for the business. An under performing team member can slow down the entire team and put your projects at the risk of failure. Keeping emotions aside, you might have to deal with the under performing member strictly. Since you have tried talking and sorting out and it hasn't worked yet, you might want to send the advice as a strict warning this time with a note that there would be unpleasant consequences if the person does not take your words seriously this time. If it doesn't work, you could either change his position into a suitable one or take a harsh decision of calling it quits with the person
