Neither Congress nor BJP is truly secular

Narayan Murthy, the founder of Infosys has recently stated ‘neither Congress nor BJP is truly secular’ has hit right on the bull’s-eye.

For:

- Congress' secular authorizations are ominously better than those of the BJP as congress still aims at ‘Hindutva’ as their controlling viewpoint
- Whereas BJP’s concentration lies on ‘Akhand Bharat and Ram Rajya’
- The construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya still lies on utmost priority for BJP
- Apologies was requested only by the Congress government and not from BJP government for the communal violence that took place under their impact
- With BJP’s Hindu fundamentalist philosophy, congress’ minority pacification cannot be compared

Against:

- Gujarat riots, demolition of Babri masjid, tenacious assaults on Christians in Orissa are blotches on BJP’s record that cannot be snubbed
- BJP follows the bridleway of playing politics with religion
- On the other hand, congress is neither clean; Khalistan movement by Indira Gandhi, anti-Sikh riots, will always be a question on their secularism
- Neither of the parties holds an impeccable secular record
- The only difference that the 2 parties hold is that BJP has a majoritarian point of view whereas, Congress by dividing the religious communities
- The parties concentration should be on the economic development rather than their identities

Conclusion:
- Both the parties have not been able to attain the secular title, though congress has to an extent tried to keep up the Hindu secularism but not completely.
