PM Adopts Jayapur Village, Stresses On The Need for Development

PM Narendra Modi spoke of the need to end the practice of female foeticide as he adopted the Jayapur village in his LS constituency. The PM also urged villagers to stop looking to the government for solving the problems and independently come up with solutions.

He also promised his support saying that “I, a small man, will bring about big things through my small talk.”Modi condemned the practice of female foeticide and spoke of how “those who look upon the girl child as a liability should ponder as to how will mankind survive if we are left in a world with no women”.

“If we kill girl child in the mother’s womb, then what will happen to the world. If only 800 girls are born against 1000 boys, then 200 boys will remain unmarried. Will government do this job?,” he said during the address.

“Our villagers need to give up the notion that it is the government that is the doer and they are only beneficiaries. The Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is an effort in that direction. It aims to empower villagers and provide them with opportunities to exercise these choices”, PM Modi also said while adopting the village under the MPs Model Village scheme.“I am confident that our villagers have the ability to shape their own destiny through their own entrepreneurial skills and hard work”, the PM also mentioned.

During his visit to Varanasi, the PM laid emphasis on the modernisation of the textile sector and asked weaves to use e-commerce for reaching out to international consumers. The PM also announced a INR 2,375 package for the revival of banks in the Eastern part of UP. “E-business is increasing. There are opportunities in the global market,” Modi said during his first visit to his Lok Sabha constituency after becoming the PM.

He also laid the foundation stone of a trade facilitation centre for weavers here. Varanasi is famous for its Banarasi silk saris and other silk products. The PM also spoke of how there was an urgent need to end the cruel and evil practice of female foeticide saying, "We will take pride when a girl is born and celebrate her birth.”

He also urged people to work hard to give Jayapur the growth and development it deserves saying "Let's take a step ahead to give Jayapur an all new form.""Just like the way weavers weave clothes, the textile sector weaves together all the sections of our society,” The PM said in his speech."We should rise above politics and help in financial growth of the region. Focus on one region won't help if the country has to move forward. The eastern part must develop rapidly," Modi added.

The PM stressed the need for growth in the eastern parts of UP and for even development in this region. High on the agenda of the NDA is growth and development and steps must be taken by the new government to ensure its complete spread to all parts of the nation. Regional inequalities can create a lot of problems in the nation. Rapid development in certain pockets and lack of growth in others can pose a major threat to the progress of the nation as a whole. With the latest aim to promote social welfare initiatives and end prejudice against the girl child, in UP, the PM has taken an important step forward in the social sphere as well. Growth and development coupled with progressive attitudes can go a long way in making the future of our country bright and the present a prosperous and positive time for all Indian citizens.
